FALTY DL – DONNA CHAMBRAY LOREN
Hardcourage saw Drew Lustman more focussed than ever. An album which, despite flitting between house, garage, techno and more, still had an identifiable consistency, a sound which was all Falty DL and a new direction at the same time. This new set of tracks follows the same sonic route, the shuffle of ‘Straight & Arrow‘ (any excuse to post that awesome video) reflected in opener, ‘Christ’ while ‘Big Boy Hide Your Hands’ is gloriously groove laden, with its p-funk bassline and head nodding beats. ‘Fly Race’ on the other hand is crazy live beats, horns, jazz stabs and mellow chords and closing track ‘Alden Avenue’ is a melancholic slice of chilled electronica. Is there anything he can’t do? Sublime.
