MIKE SKINNER – KNOW THERE’S NO
Let’s be honest here, Mike Skinner’s commercial projects started getting a bit stale, his once-original lyrical flow started to grate as he got sucked into the celebrity game, the only bright light since A Grand Don’t Come For Free being free underground mixtape Cyberspace and Reds. Aside from that, hearing a new Streets album was generally a case of disappointment which left you questioning whether Original Pirate Material was actually as good as you remember (it is.} Anyway, Mike is back with a perfect slice of house, all glorious pianos, pitched vocals and a head nodding roll which could grace any Ibiza beach bar. A welcome change of direction, absolutely love it.
