VEREKER – SLAIN
That synth growl which runs throughout comes off like the Predator, while the malfunctioning vocal is a barely legible warning not to come any closer, this is classic Trilogy Tapes material. The crusty backing is all electro claps and cowbells and the bare bones production is refreshing enough, but I can’t understand what this music is for in many ways. It’s 4/4 beat plods along all very satisfactorily, but it’s not really for the club. And as home listening, well, it doesn’t grab your attention enough. Which kind of makes it background music. But quite what you’d be doing with this on in the background is a poignant question. I can only think of fixing a motorbike engine in the kitchen or coding a doomsday virus.
