Finland’s finest, Jori Hulkkonen, is on a bit of a role at the moment. Following on from his wonderful work with John Foxx, he’s now teamed up with Julo Paalosmaa, a guy I know two fifths of fuck all about. OK, just checked, he’s the lead singer of Villa Nah, a Finnish pop duo, heavily influenced by 80s pop. Which goes some way to explaining this track which has an overriding feeling of said decade. It’s all about those synth patterns which float over the chorus and the chord changes really, but the vocal has that kind of Tears For Fears-ness about it. It’s certainly unashamed in it’s execution and all the better for it.

The album is called Afterlife and it will be released on Oct 25.
