JASON KENDIG – FAMILY 2013 MIX
Not gonna lie, American DJ and producer Jason Kendig had completely passed under my radar until now but wow, this mix is the absolute shit. Chunky house manoeuvres are the order of the day with some old classics like Ruffneck and Idjut Boys. Stop reading this and whack it on anyway, you want be disappointed.
NINA KRAVIZ – SPACE CLOSING FIESTA
Did you miss Ibiza this year? No matter, you have the next best thing, the internet. Just turn the heating up, get a swimsuit on and away you go (also, drugs.) If you were there, fuck you. This mix by the awesome Nina Kraviz is a stunner with just the right amount of darkness, pump and drive with a satisfying smattering of acid throughout. It’s what I like to call, good.
STORE MIX 033 – VERONICA VASICKA
A mix by Minimal Waves founder and curator Veronica Vasicka is always a delight and feels a bit like stumbling upon a pile of gems in an otherwise fusty cupboard – unexpected and surprising. Each gem a different colour but none less fabulous than the last. This is the store mix for LN-CC who sell ridiculously expensive clothing like this or this but clearly have exquisite taste in music. Fantastic as always. Reassuringly obscure. Listen.
DAVE AJU AT AYLI WITH MAGIC MOUNTAIN HIGH AND MOVE D
Great live mix from San Franciscan house-meister Aju here which wastes absolutely no time in getting down and dirty with some devilish stompers. No tracklist but who gives a waddling shit about that? Crank it up.
KAHN – ROOTS & FOUNDATIONS
Bristol dub/grime/bass producer Kahn has posted this vinyl mix as a free download, an exploration into the tracks and styles which have influenced his work. And it’s a rootsy joy. Dub magnificence. If you can’t stand dub or reggae, move on. This is not for you.
COUNTERCHANGE ARTIST’S LOG 001: FORCE/EMERGE
Cracking start to a new series of podcasts for Ed Davenport’s label, Counterchange. The elusive Berlin producer Force/Emerge lives up to both his names with a forceful selection of techno and electro which emerges from the most humble, atmospheric beginnings into a remarkably sprawling exploration. Following on from his magnificent EP, Lumi, this mix is another essential reason to keep an eye on this amazing producer/DJ.
PROSUMER – BOILER ROOM MIX
A Boiler Room with people dancing? Yep, your eyes aren’t lying. No surprise though, Panorama Bar regular Prosumer knows exactly how to work a crowd, flipping from happy house to acid tweaking toughness in one effortless hour. Great DJ and great set.
