bEEdEEgEE – BRICKS
As a big Gang Gang Dance fan I was intrigued as to what Brian DeGraw would hit us with for his 4AD debut LP, SUM/ONE and this first taster ‘Bricks,’ might hold some key. Everything-plus-the-kitchen-sink production is the first phrase which comes to mind – the trap snare rolls, cinematic strings, the urgent synths, the vocal samples, weird keys, it all sounds like someone’s emptied a music studio out of a large bag and recorded the resultant noise. With repeated listens though, it all kinda comes together and is actually a tetchy piece of weird joy. Gonna be interesting to hear this as part of the full project on Dec 2.
