DFRNT RELEASES PATIENCE TEASER

DFRNT – PATIENCE LP

Echodub label-boss, Alex Cowles produces the kind of dub-inspired techno which is borderline ambient, all synth sweeps, crackling landscapes and deep, enchanting beats. This taster from his forthcoming album Patience (Dec 9, release date fans) showcases all of the above – a perfect home listen to get lost in.

NEW MUSIC – LEYLAND KIRBY

THE STRANGER – WATCHING DEAD EMPIRES IN DECAY

Leyland Kirby is an intriguing (and hirsute,) beast, having been responsible for some of the more gratifyingly obscure releases of recent years. The stunning 4 hour epic, Sadly, The Future Is Not What It Was, was the culmination of a work which began as The Caretaker project – Kirby (real name James by the way,) looping dusty old records he discovered in a Stockport shop, referencing the past to reflect the future – and ended with his Leyland guise stretching the concept to it’s brilliant conclusion wit Sadly... This collection on Modern Love is a much more structured and regimented affair – caustic and cinematic textures with aptly crumbling and exploratory percussive elements. A startlingly emotive listen.

NEW MUSIC – NILS FRAHM

NILS FRAHM – SAYS

Just got completely lost in this beautiful track by German electronic composer Nils Frahm. If I could make you listen to this I would put some quality headphones on you, force your eyes closed and watch you drift away. Beautifully controlled composition with such restraint throughout suddenly bursts forth, heart-racingly, into pure magic. What a ride.

Taken from his forthcoming LP Spaces on Erased Tapes, released Nov 18.
